Camping Deer Meadow is very beautifully situated on the edge of the national park Drenthe- Friese Wold, some 10,000 hectares large. The area is known for its beautiful nature , with forests, heaths, lakes and farmland alternate.

There are outstanding opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding
And horse and carriages are available for rent.

Camping Deer Meadow is located on different ANWB cycling routes,
about 7 km from Appelscha, known for its 'Kale Duinen'('Bald Dunes'),
Miniature Park and amusement park Duinenzathe. 10 km from Diever with several attractions including a radio museum, and of course the famousShakespeare plays . These have been staged for already half a century in the months of July and August, in the local outdoor theater Diever .

It is 3 km from the Aekingermeer
(also called Lake Canada ) which offers many opportunities for water sports such as swimming and surfing. The wide sandy beach is ideal for sun bathing. This freely available recreational lake can be reached from the site both by bike and by car within a quarter of an hour.

The night markets in Diever, Dwingeloo and Vledder more guests in the holiday season are also worth visiting.

To this we may add , of course, the annual
recurring event " The Fair of Waters"
called the largest annual fair of the North.
