The Antiquities Collection is a journey through Norwegian history, from the first human traces to the middle ages. The Viking Age is represented in the form of major displays showing among other things, a Viking helmet, swords, costumes and jewellery. The middle age is represented with tools and items connected with religious faith.In the Historical museum is Norway's largest Ethnographic museum that shows how indigenous peoples and non-western cultures in the Artic, Africa, North and South America and East-Asia have adapted to the natural environment, created their art and handicrafts and practise their faiths and rituals. The Artic Exhibition shows the indigenous population's hard life in the cold Arctic climate.
