Greece (Greek: Elláda, Hellas) is a country in southern Europe, situated on the southern part of the Balkan Peninsula and numerous islands. These islands constitute about 20% of the land surface. Greece is bordered to the north (west to east) for Albania, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria and Turkey. For the rest of mainland Greece surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea (to the south), the Ionian Sea (in the west) and the Aegean Sea (east). The largest islands are Crete, Euboea, Lesbos and Rhodes.
