The Belize Barrier Reef in the Caribbean is the longest barrier reef in the northern hemisphere and the second after the Australian Great Barrier Reef.

Countless Corals Islands line the 256 kilometres of the Coral Reef and make all kinds of water sports. It is a paradise for fishermen, divers and snorkelers. The reef is inhabited by 350 species of fish. Along the Belize Barrier Reef are many small islands, called cayes. The best known are Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, Caye Chappel, St. Georges Caye, Caye Tobago and South Water Caye.

With three of the four atolls caribbean Belize also has the highest density of such atolls in the Caribbean. The Great Blue Hole (Big blue gata) in the middle of Lighthouse Reef is located about 80 miles from Belize City. Originally a cave inter fitting fell 10,000 years ago when the country fell into the sea. A circle of 330 meters in diameter The blue hole is 130 feet deep and offers an incomparable diving experience between stalactites and stalagmites. Made famous by Jacques Cousteaus television movies are now the most famous dive sites in Belize.
