Slovenia is situated in Central Europe and bordering Austria, Italy, Hungary and Croatia.
It has Alps, mountains, sea (Adriatic Sea) and plains, a Mediterranean climate, mountain climate and a continental climate.
Slovenia is known for the SOCA river with its blue-green color where many watersports take place like kayaking, rafting, canoeing etc.
Slovenia is also a good destination for mountain biking or hiking.
In Slovenia it is predominantly Roman Catholic, 88% is Slovenian, in the west of the country there is an Italian minority. In the East there is a Hungarian minority. In Slovenia they speak Slovenian, but also speak Italian, German, English, and Serbo-Croatian.
Slovenia has two million inhabitants. Ljubljana has 300,000 inhabitants. Slovenia hasn't belonged to Austria for more than 400 years. In the west of Slovenia they were part of Italy for more than 20 years and the rest of Slovenia was part of Yugoslavia approximately 70 years.
Slovenia is a member of the European Union, Eurozone and Schengen zone.
Slovenia is cheaper than the famous holiday countries Italy and Austria.
